January 28, 2009 saw the announcement of the first wave of horses entered in the 2009 Aintree Grand National. Despite a number of trainers and owners recently express these concerns about the cost of horse racing in the economic climate, a bumper 123 horses have been recorded for the big race.
"This is a very positive outcome for the race this year, "said Paul Eddison of www.grand target =" _blank ">-national.me.uk." We had a more conservative number as to the costs involved, but obviously the prestige of the race and the biggest prize on offer this year has made it more acceptable for trainers and owners.
A large number of horses registered each year at this time and during the month net, the number is reduced to approx. 40 Therefore, although some breeds have begun with less.
One of the ways noted that figures to be reduced is with the announcement of the weights of the horses, to be held in February 10, 2009.

For those who are study, the weight assigned to each horse will a significant impact, given the environment in which most of the Grand National winners crossing the line to victory. It is a prelude to one of the most important for large career and no doubt will be discussed in detail when it was announced next week.
The current list of participants in large number and variety of countries, including Britain, Ireland, France, Germany, New Zealand and the United States. As expected, 62 horses entered are Irish, which represents nearly half of voters recorded, which explains the history of Irish horses have done so well – the more join the better the chances of one of them wins!
Rather remarkable, Almost 25% of horses, 33 of them are French, which is a large contingent as early in the selection process. Traditionally, French horses are not very well the Grand National, and in the last 10 years, at best, finished fifth, but with so many of this year, we see an increase in overall performance.
Of course, depends entirely on which of these are the starting line, weight, are given and the riders, which in turn during the day.
In general, The list of participants are not too many surprises, good variety of countries represented, a pair of dark horses (excuse the pun!) into the mix and certainly one or two to keep an eye on the next two months.
Clearly, the horses are strongly inclined, but as we have seen in recent years, anything can happen in the Grand National. You can study the form and review the best trainers, riders and stables, but you can not factor of luck and sometimes is all you need on your side!
