Are there really good cookbooks for cooks absolute beginners?
Ok, I want or need to learn to cook. I'm 25 and my mom is a great cook, but never taught me. And now she lives 250 miles away. Let's start with what I know how: Simplicity … stove top pasta (the on-a-model cash) in a box of cakes / biscuits, eggs, canned vegetables, yes that's it. You see, I am a beginner. But I love Good Food. I need a book prescription that happened to my baby through everything and not assume that I know how to do something. I have to learn the basics for me and when I a family in the future. Of all Anyway, where do I begin? Help!
The good old, classic Betty Crocker Cookbook is your best option – a lot of useful tips, advice cooking and roasting charts, etc. Otherwise, the Better Homes and Gardens is a classic, too. These two cookbooks can provide all your basic recipes and then you can go from there. You can try taking one or two at your local library and give them a good run through to see if you want to spend money and buy one.
